Hair Care – there is a hairdresser here Wednesdays from 9 to 5, where you can arrange to have your hair done – she cuts both men and women’s hair.
Transportation – if family and/or friends are unable to drive you to a medical appointment you may use a taxi.
Tuck Shop – this is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:00am – 11:30 p.m., where you may purchase small items, such as chocolate bars and facial tissue.
Telephone – rooms are wired to accommodate a telephone – this is arranged by the family directly with Bell Canada
Cable – rooms are wired to accommodate cable television – this is arranged by the family directly with Rogers.
Personal Belongings – It is advisable that valuables be left with a relative, and only a minimal amount of money be kept in your room. You may leave money with the office, where it will be locked up and you may access it at any time during the regular office hours of Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is limited storage for articles and clothing, so off season clothes should not be brought in until they are needed. The doors to the building are locked to the outside each evening and are set with an alarm system if anyone should leave the building.
Fire Safety – We are equipped with a fire detection alarm system which is maintained and inspected on a regular basis. We have regular fire drills, and regular inspections by the Guelph Fire Department.
Parking – There is parking on site at the front of the Home. If you still drive your vehicle, you may park it there.
Visiting / Mail – Visitors may come at any time. If you wish to go out with someone, we request that you notify the staff. Incoming mail is delivered to the office, and it will be brought to your room. You may send outgoing mail out with our daily pick-up. You may wish to arrange to have a newspaper delivered here on a daily or weekly basis.
Communication – There is a Resident Council Meeting held on the third Friday of each month. You are encouraged to attend these sessions and express any ideas or concerns you may have. We encourage open communication between the residents, their family members, and the manager and staff. If you have any questions or concerns, we are always available to spend time with you.
