There is nursing staff on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The nurses give medication, assess resident’s medical needs and arrange doctor’s appointments as needed. Our day nurse has been at Heritage House for 18 years and our afternoon nurse has been here for over twenty years. We are proud of the care we provide at Heritage House.
Residents keep their own physicians. Whoever cared for the resident in the community, will continue to provide care for the resident at Heritage House. We can provide them with a physician for people coming from out of the area,
We have a physiotherapist at Heritage House Monday, Wednesday and Friday. He assesses our resident’s need for exercises in strength and balance. He also does assessments for walkers and wheelchairs. Our physiotherapy assistant does an exercise program with the residents these mornings at 10:00 am. Pain control is managed with physiotherapy. The physiotherapy program also includes assistance for people recovering from strokes and fractures. There is no charge to the resident for this service.
It is covered by OHIP.
A registered nurse comes in once a month to provide foot care to residents requiring this service. There is a charge for this.
We look after ordering and dispensing medication and have daily contact with the pharmacist. Pharmacy charges are conveniently added to the monthly invoices.
We provide O2 therapy at Heritage House. Anyone requiring oxygen will have their own tank and can use the oxygen in their room or they can use a portable tank.
